WAVELABS takes first place in Startup Competition

Where in the world is Saxony?
At the focal point of some of the key innovations of the last few hundred years, that’s where. And it also happens to be the site of the futureSAX Startup Competion, which we are proud to report WAVELABS has won this year.

Saxony is a highly innovative region in the heart of Germany. It’s where the world’s first daily newspaper was launched. And that Leipzig newspaper and its successors have had quite a few inventions to report on from their home state over the years. Like the first European gas street lamp, the first European porcelain, and now, the first solar simulator to run on LEDs of 21 different colors.

We stood on stage at futureSAX while journalists snapped photos with cameras that use a vertical focal plane shutter — as popularized in 1932 by Saxony’s very own Contax camera. And we were very honored, not least because we received the €15,000 firstplace award from Minister of Economic Affairs Martin Dulig. But also because of what this moment symbolized — that we are taking part in a long and proud tradition of Saxon innovation.

The SINUS-220 LED solar simulator is currently one of the best simulators under the sun, providing nearly flawless efficiency measurement of solar cells.
