LED’s have a great lunar new year

China has doubled the number of installed WAVELABS SINUS-220 systems in 2017, with early signs that this could be a feat repeated by early 2018! Three of the six members of the Silicon Module Super League (SMSL) have now made the switch to our LED solar simulators. Singapore, the tropical solar friendly city-state will be home to at least 3 new SINUS-220s this year, with SERIS making a repeat order for their lab. Further south, the University of New [...]

LED’s characterISE this as a win-win

Fraunhofer ISE, one of the world’s most important solar PV research institutes and home to the renowned CalLab, has purchased a SINUS-220 LED solar simulator. The WAVELABS flasher will initially be used for characterisation. Depending on the results, future calibration duties are not out of the question. Fraunhofer ISE is hoping to benefit from advantages of LED technology including improved temporal stability of spectrum and reduced maintenance. It’s fantastic to see them acquiring WAVELABS technology, however they choose to [...]

Three’s a (fairly collegial) crowd

Our own Torsten Brammer was on hand for pv magazine’s latest equipment roundtable discussion together with Vahid Fakhfouri from Meyer Burger and Klaus Ramspeck from Halm. The trio comprised one proponent each for: conventional xenon based technology (Halm), xenon and hybrid LED/xenon flashers (Meyer Burger), and purely LED-based simulators (WAVELABS). The experts engaged in friendly debate, with all agreeing industry standards have fallen hopelessly behind the times. But it wasn’t allpeace & love. Read the interview and see Torsten [...]

Flurry of Media Coverage Puts WAVELABS in LED Spotlight

WAVELABS is no stranger to media exposure. The startup can be seen often enough on the pages of major professional journals such as pv magazine and photon. But with the latest article published in Germany’s Leipziger Volkszeitung — a daily newspaper with a circulation of over 190,000 — the innovators from Saxony have found themselves featured in the mainstream German press. Our CEO Dr. Torsten Brammer says he refuses to let fame and fortune distract the company from launching [...]

LED’s go West!

The US is a huge market and innovator in solar energy. This is why we take part at SEMICON West / Intersolar North America 2015 (July 14-17). Meet us at booth B 1829, Saxony Pavilion, South Hall. http://www.semiconwest.org https://www.intersolar.us/en/home.html

WAVELABS, REC, and Fraunhofer CSP: “LED’s be realistic.”

Solar photovoltaic modules require cover glass to protect them from the elements. These glass and clear plastic (EVA) layers in the path between the cell and the sun alter reflectance and absorption properties, creating what are known as cell-to-module (CTM)effects. The light that reaches cells in a finished (encapsulated) solar module thus differs from what a bare solar cell sees. The problem manufacturers face is that adjustments for bare cells may not achieve the desired efficiency results after encapsulation [...]
