WAVELABS, together with several Eastern German PV-stakeholders, has co-founded the Solar Power Transformation Cluster “SPOT ON” e.V. in Halle (Saale). The cluster aims to facilitate close cooperation and networking among manufacturing businesses, service providers and research institutes along the PV value chain.

Last week, the transnational solar cluster “SPOT ON” e.V. was founded in Halle (Saale). East German PV-stakeholders pooled their forces to strengthen their region’s position as a center for PV expertise. Co-founding the cluster, WAVELABS is part of a team of regional top-players in PV-manufacturing and development. Founding members include envia THERM GmbH, NexWafe, AVANCIS GmbH, Qcells Europe, Leipziger Energiegesellschaft mbH&Co KG, CE Cell Engineering GmbH, Mounting Systems GmbH, Yokk Solar GmbH and Hochschule Anhalt. Furthermore, Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoltaics CSP supports the initiative with intentions to join the association themselves.

Dr. Torsten Brammer, WAVELABS co-founder and board member at SPOT ON, remarked:

“With photovoltaics, we have a proven technology that is a central building block for the decarbonization of our energy supply. With the cluster’s combined economic and scientific potential, we strive to promote eastern Germany as an innovative and competitive site for solar technology. We are convinced that our region harbors the talents necessary to develop a serious standing in PV. Therefore, the best way forward is to reach out and excite boys and girls for solar and engineering! The latter are particularly needed if we want to bring a breath of fresh air into this old boys’ club.
